Sap Is In Motion, Enter Sap Mobility
The world is in motion. Gone are the days when physical presence was essential to get the job done. With the prominence of outsourcing and remote task implementation, there has been a growing need for mobility solutions in the ERP world. Fortunately, SAP SE is always abreast with such industry needs. SAP is always in motion. Enter SAP Mobility, the ERP solution of the mobile world.
So What Is SAP Mobility All About?
The idea behind SAP Mobility is hedged on leveraging mobile technology to enable enterprises to empower and engage employees, customers and stakeholders in novel and innovative ways. With SAP Mobility, your employees can use their personal devices to accomplish their tasks remotely, can access documents from outside the office and can use free file sharing tools to communicate with fellow employees and clients. Your customers and clients can be able to view meeting notes stored in various formats including audio and video in real-time, repair manuals and tutorials and to get their concerns addressed sufficiently with minimal delays. Anonymous access with or without password protection to files in the ERP architecture can be granted to public users and other stakeholders such as government officials and financial institutions.
The SAP Mobility Architecture Unveiled
SAP Mobility can be deployed either on-premise or via cloud. In both these deployments, there is a network of computers and mobile devices such as Apple iPads, iPhones, Android phones and Android tablets. Under SAP Mobility on-premise deployment, this network of computers and mobile devices is connected to a SAP Mobile Documents Server based on SAP Netweaver AS Java 7.3 SP9 or 7.3 EHP 1 SP5. This server is then linked to Shared and My Documents Repositories based on SAP Portal KM 7.3. The server can also be linked to a corporate repository or corporate repositories using CMIS connectivity.
Under SAP Mobility cloud deployment on the other hand, the network of computers and mobile devices is connected to a SAM Mobile Documents Server based on SAP HANA Cloud Platform. This server is then linked to Shared and My Document Repositories based on SAP HANA Cloud Platform Document Service. The server can also be linked to a corporate repository or corporate repositories via secure connectivity using SAP HANA Cloud Connector that is based on CMIS standard.
